Have a good xmas & new year holiday!

Dear All,
Yesterdays group meditation session was the last one of the year. Our next one will be on 10th January 2017.

Whether you managed to attend a few sessions or just followed the emails and meditated at home, I'm sure you would have discovered, probably to your amazement, that it really does work. All you had to do was give it a chance and persist just a little bit.

So if through your experience of sahaja yoga meditation, you were able to overcome your stress, cure yourself or improve your health, get along better with other people, fix your finances, become more creative, get a new job or do your own thing, find new purpose in life and pursue it, or simply ascend spiritually, then do tell your friends and family.

Sahaja Yoga is a quiet global movement towards a better world for everyone. In more than 95 countries around the world, including Mongolia and Saudia Arabia, individuals and groups of individuals are daily achieving for a few moments or for longer the state of 'thoughtless awareness', through the spontaneous kundalini awakening, which contains within it the blossoming of human beings fullest potential.

The more people that take to it, the more chance and hope there is of bringing about positive change around us. Instead of the trouble and strife we see on TV or read about in the newspapers or, in some cases, directly experience, a more happier picture could replace it. This is what has been predicted(click here):

So while you're enjoying the holidays with friends and family, don't forget to make a little time for meditation if you can.

Have a good time and see you in the new year when we'll be aiming to progress together in deeper group meditations that show faster results.
Regards

How your Kundalini works.

Dear All,
Tuesday 20th December will be our last group meditation session of 2016. We'll be back on 10th January 2017.

But before Christmas and year end, it's still possible to have a growth spurt in your meditation practice by stepping on the gas a little.

There's a law of physics, that says things pretty much stay the same unless some force is applied. This explains boredom; being stuck in a rut and desperately wanting some positive change. Change is possible, but not from the sofa.

The relation of this to sahaja yoga meditation is this:

When you sit for meditation, the strength of your experience of the vibes and of the inner silence depends on the strength of the flow of kundalini energy through the sushumna nadi (central channel/parasympathetic nervous system). This in turn depends on your 'pure desire'.

'Pure desire' is that inner urge which contains the force of action in it so that there is no gap between wanting and getting. Only the kundalini is capable of this.

So if this force of 'pure desire' is brought in when you sit down to meditate, by sincere wishing directed to your 'mother' kundalini, you'll get much better results. It 's like somebody learning how to move a paralysed leg or hand by concentratedly willing it to move. After some practice, the limb works and no effort of will is required.

It's the same with kundalini and the meditation: it's to be approached with willful intent, until it works by itself. This 7 min clip explains it more.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

'Ambrosial' Hours and Biological Clock.

Dear All,
Your success may be all down to timing: not so much what you do but when you do it.

There's a special time in the early hours of the morning, known by the ancient yogis as the 'ambrosial hours' when, with very little effort , it is possible to feel at their strongest, the flow of vibes from the sahasrara chakra at top of head into vishuddhi chakra in the throat.

How well your vishuddhi chakra is developed can determine the quality of your relationships and ability to get things done, because it is the chakra of communications.

The 'ambrosial' timing is measured at about one and a half hours before sunrise and lasts for about 48 minutes. Luckily, as we are in winter time, sunrise is sufficiently late to wake up at the ambrosial time without forcing yourself to wake up particularly early.  Sunrise today, for example, was 07:51am. If you woke up at around 06:21am this morning and managed to sit in meditation then you would have been bathed in the rejuvenating nectar-dew of vibes.

This heightened ability to feel vibes in early morning may have something to do with our biological clock/circadian rhythms, depicted in the picture below (from wikipedia: Chronobiology)

'Yoga Nidra' - Sleep Meditation

Dear All,

Here's another way to fit some meditation into your busy schedule. Do it while you sleep. This is not as crazy as it sounds. According to the philosophy of yoga, there are 4 states of consciousness:
  • Awake
  • Dreaming Sleep
  • Dreamless Sleep
  • Turiya - Pure consciousness
That last state, Turiya, is actually the state we're taking baby-steps to get to in our weekly group meditations, but while awake. If you want to try and touch it while asleep, and the 'wandering mind' is switched off for the day, here's what to do.

Ideally, you need to do a footspa/footsoak before going to bed to get the day's 'jangle'/'static' out of your system. Before your head touches the pillow, raise your kundalini, put on a bandhan and hold your attention at the top of your head until you can feel your vibes. Finish off with kundalini-bandhan again, and lie down. You're not thinking and the focus of your attention should remain at the top of your head while you drift off into sleep.

This is 'Yoga Nidra' or sleep meditation.

A recent book by Arianna Huffington, called The Sleep Revolution and supported by the latest scientific research shows how important a good night's sleep is to our well-being, health and quality of life. You could be super-charging that with a bit of yoga nidra :o)

Both waking and dreaming could be the same thing: a movie with you as the main character and the projector is the mind. Therein lies life's limitations - being stuck in the script. Here's how to overcome mental limitations.

Your Path to Health

Dear All,
Dr. Katya Rubia, who is a Professsor of Cognitive Neuroscience at King's College, London, and has been practising sahaja yoga meditation for a long time, has put together the website below(link), which summarises some of the scientific research showing the positive effect of  the meditation on anxiety, depression and other ailments.

The health and well-being benefits from the regular meditation('thoughtless awareness') do become noticeable to you even if you're 'fine' to begin with. It's like putting money into your bank account.

And, if you happen to have a friend who may be coping with any of the conditions listed, then why not introduce them to sahaja yoga meditation, which you can do by raising their kundalini and teaching them how to meditate.

This 5 minute talk describes the importance of your liver to your overall health.
See you at group meditation tomorrow.
More below.

The photo above of Shri Mataji occupies a prominent position in Vashi Hospital, India, where therapies are based on sahaja yoga methods. They describe the photo as 'Dhanvantari swarup', meaning 'in the form' of Dhanvantari. The reason for this description is because Shri Mataji cured a lot of people and seemingly knew the remedy for every problem or ailment. Dhanvantari is said to be the 'god of medicine' and founder of Ayurveda and can be compared to 'The Yellow Emperor' of traditional Chinese medicine. The 'god of medicine' in ancient Greek is said to be Asclepius, whose symbol was a serpent ascending a staff ('the rod of Asclepius'), which has been adopted as the emblem on medical emergency response vehicles:
This emblem has been likened to kundalini ascending the central channel or sushumna. So 'hidden'  in plain view may be  the association between health and kundalini awakening. The ancient Greeks, appear to have  been in possession of a lost knowledge hinted at in certain medical terms still in use for parts of the human body eg 'fontanelle' (little fountain), which is  the bone at the top of the head through which the kundalini flows like a little fountain and felt as a cool breeze or wind ('pneuma'), having risen from the 'sacrum' ('sacred') at the base of the spine.
All of which opens the possibility of some truth in an old prediction about future human beings no longer getting sick or old.

The Power of Your Hands

Dear All,
Your hands are important. Through your regular meditation , the vibes which can be felt as the 'cool breeze' above your head, start flowing in your hands and you can use this to help your chakras; raise a friends kundalini, cure someone; vibrate water'; express creativity and do many other useful things.

The annotated photo below shows how your subtle system works regarding the power of your hands.

If you can't feel much on your hands, it could be because of the state of the vishuddhi - if you smoke, try and cut down . Or try massaging the hands with olive oil.

At the throat, shown in photo, the drinking or swallowing reflex may be felt in deep meditation. If you're lucky you may get the 'taste' of a sweetness at the back of the throat. This mechanism is referred to in yoga as 'kechari mudra' *. This is said to be 'amruta', 'ambrosia' -  the fabled 'food of the gods' and 'elixir of eternal youth' :o).

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

Regards

* Kechari Mudra is extensively described in the ancient literature of yoga, particularly Raja yoga('Royal yoga') but it is littered with mistakes and false practices. Kechari Mudra happens spontaneously after kundalini awakening, not before in the same way that the steering and wheels of a car only work once the ignition is on, not before.

Make your stress go away in 2 minutes so it's easier to meditate.

Dear All,
A number of you have said how fantastic you feel when you meditate but haven't yet managed to establish this as a daily routine because of being too busy or stressed even. Here are a couple of tips for helping you overcome that.

The first recommendation is from some good advice given in Ayurveda (Indian classical medicine) for maintaining health and well-being throughout life. There are a number of practices that we do every day without thinking about them eg. brushing our teeth or combing our hair.

This is part of most people's daily self-care. Two more things could be added to this which need not take more than 2 minutes each and preferably done in the evening: a foot and head self-massage with coconut butter/oil.
(The usefulness/importance of this is shown on the chart below that links points on the foot and head with your chakras. If the chakras are clear (free from catches), then the kundalini energy flows freely and you achieve a deeper meditation and are more likely to meditate because it's easier.)

Instructions for foot and head massage, which is also a very good way to get rid of your stress, is shown below.

The other tip is to raise your kundalini and put on a bandhan before you leave the house in the morning even if you think you don't have time to sit for a short meditation. Once you can establish this as a regular practice, it's a short step to pausing and actually sitting for 5 minutes.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.
Regards
Foot Massage:
Sit down with one leg crossed over the knee of the other leg so that you can rub the sole of the foot with both hands. Take a large blob of coconut butter on your finger and rub it between your palms until completely melted. Now rub the toes between both palms; followed by rubbing the whole sole of the foot, applying pressure with the finger tips on any points where you experience any pain. The foot massage is ideal after a footspa.
Head Massage:
Again using coconut oil, rub with the tips of the fingers into the scalp, concentrating on the mid-line of the head from back to front.

Growing Flowers - The Art of Self-development.

Dear All,
Below is an annotated photo showing you where the main chakras are in your body and the innate quality you can develop within yourself by meditating on them.

The process is like cultivating flowers to bring out their individual fragrances. With the meditation you have an extraordinary power of similarly transforming yourself into the ideal version of yourself and seeing that reflected back to you in a happier and more enjoyable life.

And there's science supporting this:

The chakras  govern the endocrine gland system which regulate the body hormones, which, in turn, are responsible for how we're feeling moment to moment and day to day. The capacity for joy and fulfillment could lie in our biology.

You can take a print out of the photo and stick it on the wall where you'll be able to easily reference it for your meditation. There's some additional notes below to explain what meditating on a chakra consists of.

To meditate on a chakra do this:
1. Raise your kundalini and put on a bandhan.
2. Keep focus of attention on top of head until you can feel the sensation of kundalini (cool breeze)
3. Remain sitting like that for 5-10 minutes to allow kundalini to take you into 'thoughtless awareness'
4. Now let your awareness shift to the part of your body corresponding to the chakra you want to meditate on.
5. Ask your mother kundalini to give you the 'fruit' or 'fragrance' of that chakra. For example, at Nabhi you could say: "Mother, please give me vitality & health and the nourishment of the vibes".
6. If your connection was properly established in steps 1, 2 & 3 above, then you should begin to experience an 'expanding' sensation on the chakra.
This is how the chakras become 'enlightened' and begin to manifest their qualities. You can only find out if this is true or not by trying :o) . You should aim to develop all your chakras in this way. What you'll notice after a while is that your kundalini flows stronger and you can achieve a deeper meditation.
Here's Dr. Brian Wells on how the chakras relate to the autonomic nervous system: Chakras & Plexuses

Transformative power of meditation - the 5 elements.

Dear All,
The table below shows some of the noticeable effects the meditation can make to your appearance. Usually, it's your friends and family that notice it first. In some people it can take a short time, in some people it can take a longer time. It depends on how regular you are in your meditation. And it all comes about through break down of vibes within you  into the 5 elements of which they are formed(Light, Air, Water, Fire, Earth).

A quick explanation about 'amaa' in 4th line of the table. According to Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), the food we eat and the strength of our 'digestive fire' is very important to maintaining our health. Ideally, we should all eat according to the capacity of our digestive fire to transform the food into life-sustaining 'Ojas' .

Where this transformation does not fully take place, it may be eliminated from the body but could leave a residue which is referred to as 'amaa', which is said to be the source of illness, dullness, lack of energy, chronic fatigue etc.
(This is probably the reason for the advice to avoid eating large meals before going to bed when digestive fire is weakest. And making the mid-day meal the largest because that is when the digestive fire is strongest)

Through regular sahaja yoga meditation, the 'silent fire' within us is strengthed, which may explain how health is improved and maintained.

More explanation given in the 7 minute clip : How effects of meditation can show on the face.

Element Sanskrit Effects
Light Tej Radiance of skin
Air Vayu Feeling of 'cool breeze'
Water Jal Emollience – softness of skin
Fire Agni 'Silent fire' burns off 'ama' to sustain health
Earth Bhumi Subtle fragrance/gravity

How to decode your fingers for better health & well-being.

Dear All,
With regular meditation, it's possible to improve your health and well-being by understanding the sensations of heat and tingling felt on the fingers. The two photos below give an easy explanation. The attachments(photos) can be printed off and placed where you meditate to help you with the decoding of your fingers.

The photos show on each hand what the usual cause of a 'catch' is. For example, if you can feel a heat or tingling sensation on the right thumb (right swadisthana chakra), then perhaps you have the tendency to over-think or over-analyse. Use of the ice-pack on the liver can help.

Your fingers are like an early-warning system because they are linked to the chakras and the chakras are linked to the organs of the body. You can 'clear' a chakra even by rubbing the corresponding finger until heat and tingling disappear and you get a cool sensation instead.

The video clip self-diagnosing through vibrational awareness gives you more knowledge about this.

3 free guided meditations to download to your phone

Dear All,

Below are links to 3 guided meditations (mp3) that you can download for free to your phone and listen to during the day when you get 10 minutes to yourself. You'll feel great afterwards.
Each of the meditations are different. Listen to all 3 but they have the different purposes/effects described.

  1. If you still can't feel your own kundalini energy as a cool breeze on the hands and above your head when you sit down for meditation, then Click here to listen to/ download a guided meditation for kundalini awakening (use with meditation photo).
  2. If you can feel something, maybe a tingling on the fingers, maybe a little heat, then you need to pay some attention to your chakras.Click here to listen to/download meditation with mantras track for the chakras.
  3. If you can feel your chakras and want to see if you can feel the petals on those chakras(some people are able to develop great sensitivity), then try listening to the 'bija mantras' - seed sounds on the chakras created by spiral movement of the kundalini from sacrum at base of spine to fontanelle at top of your head.Click here to listen to/download bija mantra meditation.
For academic interest only, the seed sounds(bijas) are shown on the book page below. These sounds form the alphabet of the sanskrit language. In India, sanskrit script is referred to as 'devnagri' (meaning, 'language spoken by the gods').

How to make progress in your meditation.

Dear All,

The simple way to make progress in your meditation, and really begin to notice how the peace you feel spreads into other areas of your life, is to understand your own kundalini better.

This 5 minute video clip 'How the kundalini works - your eyes start shining'  is a good start.

If you can achieve a rapport with your own kundalini at the beginning of your meditation by communicating with her then she seems to respond by sending more strands of energy through the central channel.

This can be felt as a deep pleasant  inner coolness in the pit of the stomach that moves to the chest , throat and then top of the head. As a result, your meditation becomes deeper and the connection to your source is strengthened.

Then you'll notice the 'Flow' in your day-to-day life; how you feel better in everyway; and how small and big problems get solved automatically.

It's a fact of existence that things that don't grow, will instead decay. Applied to your meditation, steady progress prevents the sameness of experience ( or non-experience) that leads to quitting before you've struck the gold that is there within you :o).

Get a hand(le) on your emotions.

Dear All,
Here's a quick trick to reduce and remove anxiety & worry and set yourself up for an easy 5 minute meditation.
  • Raise your kundalini & put on a bandhan .
  • Press your left and right palms together and place against centre of your chest
  • Close your eyes and focus attention at the top of your head.
  • Hold this position until you can feel coolness of kundalini at top of your head.
The use of the hands in this way to balance your emotional ( left side) and mental (right side) is called 'Anjali Mudra' and is often used in physical yoga .

Since life satisfaction comes from what we feel(emotion) and what we think, it's useful to know how this can be helped by the practice of some simple techniques of sahaja yoga shown in this short clip

If you have any follow-up questions relating to the one-day sahaja yoga meditation retreat you went to last Saturday, then please send them to me.

Sahaja Yoga Meditation - Thanks for coming!

Hi there!

Thanks for coming to our meditation session last night. The practice of Sahaja yoga meditation is growing very fast all around the world, because people are discovering that it is the easiest and simplest way to gain all the benefits of meditation in the shortest time.

With Sahaja yoga meditation, these benefits include removing stress to gain an inner peace ;increasing your well-being, overcoming illness; becoming a happier person, having better relationship with others and achieving your goals in life.

You don't have to actively do anything.

The reason sahaja yoga meditation is so easy and won't take you a lot of time is because - you don't do anything!

(Neither do you have to sign-up for anything or pay anything)

The state of being in meditation is done for you by the spontaneous awakening of the dormant energy of the kundalini which sits at the base of your spine (tail bone/ sacrum). It has been compared to the capacity of a seed to spontaneously germinate into a flower. It happens by itself.

An experience you can actually feel!

When the kundalini is awakened, she travels from the sacrum, up a central channel(nadi) in your back, corresponding to the spinal column.  She then emerges through your fontanelle ('soft spot' on top of a baby's head) and can be felt as a 'cool breeze'(pneuma) above your head if you hold your hand there.

The effect of the kundalini awakening can also be felt as a cool sensation on the palms of the hands.

For some people, this may initially be experienced as a tingling sensation on one or more fingers. Also the top of the head may feel hot at first. However, both these should cool down in one meditation sitting or over several sittings.

'Thoughtless Awareness'

Once you start feeling the cool breeze sensation above your head, your attention becomes slowly absorbed in that. Your thoughts begin to recede to the point where for a fraction of a second there is no thought at all.

This is the state of 'thoughtless awareness' (nirvichar samadhi). It has to be allowed to develop.

By the regular sitting for meditation, the split of a second experience of thoughtless awareness gradually increases by itself  and becomes noticeable.

This state of awareness is not new in you. You had it when you were a baby* before you learnt to speak. This state in a child is called pratyaksha in sanskrit, meaning 'just seeing or watching without any accompanying mental activity'.  The kundalini restores or regains this state for you, which you are then able to enter at will . If you want to think, you can; if you want to rest your mind by not thinking, you can do that as well.

It is from this that the extraordinary benefits of the meditation come.

Many people beginning sahaja yoga meditation have been amazed by the noticeable result even after a few days of just sitting for 5-10 minutes and letting the kundalini work.

*(sensory-motor stage in Jean Piaget's child cognitive development).

The Meditation
The results are entirely up to you. If you give it a go, then you will get some reward from it. So here are the steps for a 5-10 minute meditation which you could do right now.
  • Place a lit candle in front of a framed copy of the photo you took home from the meeting (download )
  • Sit comfortably holding your palms open on your lap.
  •  Raise your kundalini and put on a bandhan (click here for demonstration)
  • Watch the photo for a few moments and with your left hand remaining open towards the photo, press the palm of your right hand firmly on top of your head .
  •  Massage top of head in clock-wise direction.
  • Put the hand down ; close your eyes and keep the focus of attention at the top of your head.
  • Sit still for 5-10 minutes while noticing any sensations above the head. If you do begin to feel the cool breeze, then pay full attention to that to experience 'thoughtless awareness'.
  • Finish by again raising the kundalini and putting on a bandhan. Get up.

Going with the Flow

If you can make time in the next few days to sit still in this way for 5 - 10 minutes morning and/or evening before going to bed, you will begin  to notice the difference in not only how you feel inside but also how your day 'flows' in a much more enjoyable way.

After a few days, you may begin to experience your kundalini as a pleasant cool flowing sensation on the palms of the hands and at the top of your head when you hold your palms out towards the meditation photo.

Some people initially experience a tingling sensation on the fingers. If you get no sensation at all, that's fine. It could just be taking a little more time.

If you're not sure whether your kundalini is awakened, try holding your palms open while watching this 6-minute video exercise for awakening the kundalini. Interestingly some people have got the kundalini awakening from just watching this clip in a relaxed, receptive state. And, you could forward the clip to your friends for them to try.

Set yourself a small goal.

Pick one thing you'd like meditation to help you with - and you can write this down in a diary. Pick a target date in the next 4 weeks and see how your daily practice of 5-10 minutes of meditation gradually gives you the result you want.

If you've been practising something else take a small break from that, so that you are starting sahaja yoga meditation fresh and new, knowing that any results you get will be as from the sahaja yoga meditation and not from something else.

To help you achieve your goal faster, try and come along to the group meditation sessions whenever you are able to. People have noticed how meditating with other people in a group once a week, not only gives a weekly energy boost or top-up that sustains your meditation practice at home, but also can lead to some deep, positive change within yourself because of what happens on your chakras.

The 'Road Map' to understanding yourself in a completely new way.

The chart below is the 'subtle system' -  channels and chakras underlying every aspect of your complete wellness - which you'll learn about during the group meditation sessions.

For example, you'll learn that sensations felt on the fingers, particularly a tingling, pricking or heat sensation corresponds to a 'catch' on the chakra that relates to that finger.

A 'catch' is anything that obstructs the free flow of your kundalini energy. It can be very easy to clear a catch and you'll learn how to do this for yourself . It's like enjoying the benefit of acupuncture treatment, but without the needles or the expense and where you're your own doctor.

Being able to feel your chakras on your hands in this way is the beginning of a new ability you never knew you had. This ability is called 'vibrational awareness' or 'collective awareness', which allows you to 'feel' your own essence and the essence of other people, places and situations on your hands.

By developing this ability through daily meditation, many people have been able to positively transform their lives and help others as well.

And it's free.

What next ?

There's a lot to learn but it's all experiential knowledge gained from your own practice of the meditation, supported by weekly guidance emails. That is why it is said that with sahaja yoga meditation you become your own guru/teacher.

Coming to the group meditations whenever you can is a great way to progress faster and make new friends with others who share your interest.

If you have any questions at all relating to sahaja yoga meditation, please feel free to email me at anytime; I'm always happy to answer.

Further below is an explanation for the use of a photo and about Shri Mataji.

So see you next week or whenever you can make it, and tell and bring any of your friends who may be interested.

Happy Meditating!

Regards

Why the meditation photo?

Meditating with the photo provides both inspiration and support for your practice.

It provides inspiration by representing the target you want to get to in your meditation, which is the state of 'thoughtless awareness'. The photo is a picture of the state of thoughtless awareness.

It provides support in that the photo has very good vibes, which you may be able to feel as a coolness on the palms of your hands when you hold your hands out towards it. This, you may begin to notice, makes your kundalini go up, so that you can feel a coolness on top of your head.

When this happens the meditation becomes easier and more enjoyable.

However, sahaja yoga meditation is best approached with an open mind, curiosity and experiment, so try meditating without the photo as well to see what the difference is.

About Shri Mataji (1923 - 2011)

The knowledge about the kundalini energy is so deep and difficult and to be able to awaken it is even more difficult. But Shri Mataji demonstrated an innate and masterful understanding of the kundalini by awakening it in thousands.

It is for this reason that in India, Shri Mataji is called 'Adi Shakti' , which translates as  re-incarnation of the primordial mother, which is the same as saying the 'Mother of Christ'.

Among the many powers Shri Mataji had, including the power of curing, was also the power of accurately predicting the future.

And what Shri Mataji predicted about en-masse spontaneous kundalini awakening, which is happening now, is that first of all  individuals will be able to overcome all their problems, including overcoming illness and reversing ageing (because kundalini is the trigger for the next evolutionary jump in human beings) and then society will rise out of it's political, economic and social problems.

But along with this prediction was also a word of warning about the potential dangers we've created for ourselves, such as from climate change. Giving the race to a better future for all, some urgency.

Getting Beyond the Mind.

Dear All,
As every sports psychologist knows the greatest obstacle to anyone achieving their goals is themself. The mind can be a big barrier to success. This is another reason to meditate. Here's how it helps you.

Pretend for a moment that you are the baby in the photo above.

What would you be thinking about? Nothing. What would be stressed about? Nothing. What would you be worried about? Nothing.

The baby is free from the trap of the mind. This state of innocent awareness is called 'pratyaksha' in Sanskrit, which is the same as the 'thoughtless awareness' (nirvichar samadhi) state that your kundalini is trying to lift you back into through the meditation.

This gives an explanation of the meaning of 'sahaja yoga' meditation. Sa-ha-ja means 'born with you' or innate/easy/without any effort/ like a baby does.

And the 'Nothing' -ness of the mind is not a boring emptiness, but rather, full of potential and possibilities that are shut down by the 'thinking mind'.

This is how just spending 5 or 10minutes a day, sitting there like the baby can bring about so many rewards and positive changes.

Click here for 4 -minute clip about getting out of the trap of the mind.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

Improve your mood and meditation with this 3-minute head massage.

Dear All,
When you press your fingertips into your scalp, can you feel any pain point on your head? If you can, then give that point on your head a rub with your fingertip until the pain goes away.

This is the beginning of perhaps curing yourself of something with a simple 3-minute self-massage of the head. It also improves the quality of your meditation by helping your sahasrara chakra. You may also find that you can concentrate better, relax better and your mood is improved.
Check out this diagram:

The roots of your chakras are lined up along the middle of the head, front to back. Medically, this part of the head is called the corpus callosum, which is the thick bundle of nerves that join the left and right hemispheres of the brain and allow them to communicate.

The corpus callosum has been found to be especially well-developed in musicians and people who are ambidextrous. And because it is the highest concentration of white matter in the body plays a big part in attention and arousal, which could be a good description of the relaxed but heightened state of awareness you want to get to in your meditation.

If you want to give yourself the full treatment, then get some coconut oil and do as they are doing in this clip demonstrating sahaja yoga head massage.

Sat. Sept 17th Retreat + Migraine Cure + Interviews

Dear All,

Do you know anyone who suffers from migraine or other chronic illnesses? What do medical doctors think about sahaja yoga meditation? What do other people experience when they meditate?

See below for answers, but first a date for your diary.

On Saturday 17th Sept., there's another one of the popular 1-day meditation retreats in the English countryside. If you've already been to one (and you can go to as many as you like), then you'll know what a transformational experience these can be. If you haven't been to one then don't miss the opportunity, click here now to see the program & put your name down (if it turns out later that you really can't go then that's OK).

Heidi Costa was an Architect in Sydney, suffering from acute chronic headaches when she discovered sahaja yoga meditation. Here's what she had to say in this Australian television news feature.

Dr Brian Wells FRCPsych is a respected medical practitioner specialising in the treatment of addictions. Anyone who is scientifically-trained or very rationally-minded is, naturally, going to be sceptical about any wild claims unsupported by evidence. And Dr. Brain Wells admits himself that he was sceptical when he first came to the meditation. Until things started happening. (Listen out for the 'coincidence' of the kind mentioned in this last email : Only connect: Everything else  flows from this ) .

Whether it's people talking about it in America or Italy, everyone says what a peaceful place the kundalini takes them to. Sophia from Genoa, Italy, particularly enjoys the vibes of the group meditation. And it shows.

See you at group meditation on Tuesday.

Kyoto Gardens - A Meditation Retreat

Dear All,
If you have any questions about your meditation practice or would like to know how meditation can help with something specific, then feel free to email me. I'm more than happy to reply, even if you don't manage to come to the group meditation sessions.

Here are 3 things you can do for free to help you think less and experience the vibes more, which can help you in many different ways.

1. Footspa detox - this is beneficial for mooladhara( joy& innocence) and nabhi(wellness) chakras.

2. Ice pack treatment  - to cool the liver down. An 'over-active' or 'hot' liver leads to stress, worry and quickly getting angry, and is quite common because of diet (eg. eating a lot of meat), taking in a lot of caffeine( coffee & tea) or alcohol.

3. Kyoto Japanese gardens - Holland Park. If you haven't visited this garden, you should try and go at least once. It has a waterfall and an air of tranquility and if you sit still with your eyes closed, it's very easy to begin to feel your sahasrara and vishuddhi chakras opening up. The best time is Saturday or Sunday morning (before the Pokemon Go players arrive :o)  )

See you at group meditation on Tuesday.
