Desiring the Moon : Your Path to Perfect Timing

moon timecycle.jpg
Dear All,

Timing is everything. If you're trying to achieve something and it's not working then perhaps you're getting your timing wrong. How can you increase your chances of getting your timing right? Here's that quote from Shakespeare:

shakespeare.jpg

So it's the moon. According to sahaja yoga knowledge, the moon governs the left channel, the side of our emotions, desires and subconscious impulses. When you meditate daily, the left, moon side comes into harmonious balance with your right sun side of action and it's easier to achieve what you want.

In addition, your kundalini connects you to the underlying rhythm of life and you're in the flow more. You usually find yourself in the right place at the right time. In other words, you become lucky.

Meditate and get lucky!

See you at group meditation tomorrow which will be the last one of the year.

How to Make the Day in Your Image - The Art Waking Up Earlier.

buddha flower.jpg
Dear All,

Could the secret of your success be in getting out of bed earlier in the morning?  Probably, but what you actually do with that extra time when your head is at it's clearest is equally important.

Mark Wahlberg, the movie actor, created a social media storm back in September when he posted his daily schedule on twitter. At first glance it seemed to consist of a lot of snacking, meals and workouts between his wake-up time of 2:30am and his bedtime of 7:30pm.

The schedule is shown below and what is interesting is that the first activity on it is what he describes as 'prayer time' at 2:45am.
wahlberg schedule.jpg

Mark may be on to something. According to Yoga, the best and most effective time to meditate is very early in the morning when the new day hasn't yet formed and it is possible to make an imprint on it.

A bit like baking a cake; if you wait for the cake to get baked and discover there's not enough sugar or cinnamon in it, then there's not much you can do about it. But if you're there at the beginning, you can choose the ingredients and get exactly the cake you want. So wake up early and meditate to give the day the shape you want it to take.

If there's no way you're going to be getting up at 2:30pm then that's fine;you don't have to. Wahlberg got his wake-up time slightly wrong. The actual time that is said to be special for meditation is the 'ambrosial time' beginning roughly one and a half hours before sunrise and lasting about 48 minutes. It's called 'Brahma Muhurta' in Sanskrit.

Current London sunrise is 07:46am , so the ambrosial time starts at about 06:16am to about 07:04am which makes it easily doable. At that time it's much easier to get into thoughtless awareness and also feel the vibes(ambrosia) flowing from the top of your head downwards.

See you tomorrow at group meditation when you can tell me all about the wonderful effect you got from rising early to meditate.

Why You Don't Need to Worry About Anything.

jumping adults.jpg

Dear All,

Below is a stick figure drawing showing you what thoughtless awareness is good for on a day-to-day basis. Apart from the fact that studies have shown that achieving thoughtless awareness, even for a few seconds at a time, can relieve stress, anxiety and depression, it's also a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card for the daily challenges we may face in work and personal life.

The reason it works is because our patterns of thought have crystallised into various issues(red box in drawing) we may be facing and getting intothoughtless awareness helps us step outside our mental traps so that solutions can present themselves. The universe is benign and not hostile.

The drawing shows a stick figure trapped in a two-dimensional (length & width) box. The only way for the stick figure to get out of the trap is to enter the third dimension (height) and simply step out of the box. We're actually in a 3-D world so to transcend this we'd need to enter the 4th dimension, which is thoughtless awareness hence another name for it in sanskrit is Turiya or '4th state'.

Got No Time? Here's a Better Way to Slice Your Pizza.

adults-business-coffee-1323592.jpg
Dear All,

Got no time? This is perhaps one of the main causes of stress - that there doesn't seem to be enough time to deal with everything. But what it could come down to is that you're just not slicing your pizza up right. The pizza being the different things that you spend your day on, including sleep and work.

The chart below shows, by extrapolation, how each of us typically spends a day and unsurprisingly, work eats up most of the time. If we were to categorise the activities into those that drain our energy - physical, emotional, mental - and those that restore or replenish our energy, most of the activities would be on the debit side, with only sleep being on the credit side.
chartoftheday_7015_how_americans_spend_their_time_n.jpg

Because of stress, the quality and/or quantity of sleep is not sufficient to cover the debit side of your energy bank balance leaving you running on an overdraft situation. This is storing up debts - in the form of stress-related illness- for the future.

The reason that meditation is recommended even by GPs is because it's like a free cash-injection into your bank account - it clears your debts. Why would you not do it?

If you look at the chart again, I've inserted a few random meditation 'credit-lines' in, which would clear your overdraft and which you could move around to suit yourself. Sitting still and trying for thoughtless awareness for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening is a very good approach.

Come and speak to me at the group meditation tomorrow and I may be able to recommend something specifically for you.

This is Your Brain on Music.

music Shri Mataji harmonium.jpg
Dear All,

Below is your free access to some of the meditation music played at the group meditation session, along with 3 book recommendations.

In short the books are 3 different ways of understanding that the brain, which governs how we think, feel and behave, can be viewed as hardware on which the mind (software) runs. Both can be changed to help you live your best life. Meditation as a means to that change is mentioned in at least 2 of the books.
Brain book recommendation.jpgThis 4 minute clip : How to Overcome Your Mental Limitations shows how the insights contained in the above books flows directly from your regular practice of sahaja yoga meditation.

Click here to download the meditation music to your phone.

While the meditation music typically tends to be Indian classical music, this is not to say that you can't find western music to lift the spirit. Here, for example, is Delibes' Lakme flower duet, sung by Anna Netrebko & Elina Garanca.

The Power of the Candle

candle light.jpg

Dear All,

A lit candle in your living space has more 'intelligence' than you can imagine. It 'sees' what you can't see and removes it by burning it off. The result is that your mood is lifted; you feel better emotionally, and it can cure you.

If you're already using a candle (thick pillar candles work better), in front of your meditation photo, you would have noticed how the flame sometimes flickers and dances or even sputters, when you're sitting for meditation. In most cases the flame then settles down and burns steadily with little movement. It works on you.

The curing power of the candle comes from it's action on your left-side(emotions) which removes the underlying cause of psychosomatic conditions. This short video clip shows you how you can make use of the candle to help your left side when and if you need it.

Protecting Yourself from Diabetes.

versisilia pp.jpg
Dear All,

Over-thinking and poor life-style choices, particularly around diet , can make us susceptible to the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes. A simple way to look after yourself is to cut down on sugar and invest 5-10 minutes daily in your practice of meditation.

According to a sahaja yoga understanding, diabetes is caused by a depleted right swadisthana chakra as a result of over-thinking. By taking 5 minutes out to chill and get into thoughtless awareness, your kundalini is able to restore the energy balance in the swadisthana, and provide you some protection from diabetes, as well as other benefits.

Below is a snapshot of a science paper to back this up. The actual paper is available to read here.

9 Free Guided Meditations For Your Phone.

Dear All,

Recent scientific research shows that regular meditation beefs up your DNA and protects you from ill-health, stress and depression at a molecular level. Other investigations show that the Giant Panda may soon not be with us. Say what?

Yea, you read that right. The 2 facts are related. The rate of extinction in the plant and animal kingdom is growing exponentially in what is called the Halocene Extinction.   Meditation, according to Shri Mataji ,  is the evolutionary route to providing the human species with some ecological immunity, so that we don't all go the way of the Neanderthals

This is why meditation should be as easy and spontaneous as possible. Effortless, like breathing. And free. Remember the charts below:

If your meditation practice has fallen by the way side; no need to panic. You can still get with the program :o).

Barry, the marathon-running, advertising exec who sits in the back row at Tuesday group meditation wanted the guided meditations on my youtube channel as mp3 audio files so that he can make use of them on his mobile. So what I've done is dump the Guided Meditations into my dropbox folder which I'm sharing with you - click here to download
The next time you have a 5 or 10 minutes to spare, plug into one of the guided meditations and tune into your higher self.

3 Cool Tips

Dear All,

It can be hard to get your meditative cool breeze when it's 29 c outside, so below are 3 quick and easy tips for keeping your inner and outer cool during this hot weather.

1. Do the footspa with cold water for the next couple of days in a row when you get home from work
Click here for how to do a sahaj footspa . Lee at Tuesday group meditation sent me this link for getting Natural Sea Salt from Amazon. Both Lee and Justin said they had  powerful kundalini experiences when they did the footspa for the first time.
Benefits include: Coolness, lightness, mental clarity and better sleep.

2. Do icepack on the liver treatment.
Click here for how to do ice pack treatment. In Ayurvedic medicine the health of the liver has an overall effect on mood and temperament and ultimately your general health. A cool liver is good so by cooling it down with ice pack you're helping yourself .
Benefits include: Coolness, relaxation, balanced feeling and better sleep.

3. Eat to keep cool - cucumber(salad) better than a curry.
Certain foods are kinder to your liver and others add internal heat to a hot day -see table below for choices.

How To Walk On Water

Dear All,

Two things are doing well at the moment: the Walt Disney - Pixar animated movie, The Incredibles 2, which raked in $180 million at the US box-office this weekend, making it the biggest launch since 'Finding Dory'. And Author and Historian, Yuval Noah Harari's books on the New York Times best-seller list.

Both touch on the potential for human beings to be more than we are at the moment(see Harari quote at bottom) and, if you're practicising sahaja yoga meditation daily, here's why this may be of passing interest to you.

When you meditate daily and begin to notice the gradual positive effect on you  - how the stress goes away and you get your inner peace - this is only due to a wee bit of the kundalini's potential

Everytime you touch the state of thoughtless awareness in your meditation then a few extra strands of this massive bundle of energy which is your kundalini rise up. The effect of this is that over time it becomes easier and easier to enter the state of mental silence. You also feel the vibes better and may start noticing how any issues you have start solving themselves automatically.

But this is still a tiny fraction of the potential effects of your kundalini's action. In the ancient literature about the kundalini, it is written that it gives you the 'ashta siddhis' or 8 supernormal abilities including Laghima : the ability to make your body almost weightless which implies the ability to walk on water or fly.

So far I haven't seen any sahaja yogi doing this :o) . Presumably, if this is an evolutionary progression, then Mother Nature doesn't want to freak us out with some weird abilities before we can handle it and everybody has got to the same stage.

Instead there are some gentler powers within the bounds of credibility and acceptance which you can start using straightaway - see below. If you needed any additional motivation to meditate - you too can become an Incredible - then this may be it.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

Regards

"Biological engineering starts with the insight that we are far from realising the full potential of organic bodies. For 4 billion years natural selection has been tweaking and tickering with these bodies, so that we have gone from amoeba to reptiles to mammals to Sapiens. Yet there is no reason to think that Sapiens is the last station. Relatively small changes in genes, hormones and neurons were enough to transform Homo erectus - who could nothing more impressive than flint knives - into Homo sapiens, who produces spaceships and computers. Who knows what may be the outcome of a few more changes to our DNA." - Homo Deus, Yuval Noah Harari

Places You Must Go To and Experience

Dear All,

Travel can help you find a missing part of yourself or at least reacquaint yourself with it.

Summer holidays are coming up and apparently, according to a survey, some people return to the same place over and over. Ibiza is fun no doubt, but to really nourish your soul, why not go to Canojoharie or Saptashrungi this year instead.

Never heard of these places?  Well then, see pic below to find out where they are located, both within yourself and as a destination you can fly to.

The significance of these places is that they lie on the energy centres of the Mother Earth and if you can meditate in them then it's like sucking the source of vibes and accelerating your inner growth.

Further down are few notes about each of these locations.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

Regards

Notes:

1. Dharamshala - Mcleod Ganj is where most visitors stay and sitting on a hotel balcony with a view of the himalayas (which is the sahasrara of the earth) while meditating can make it feel like the top of your head has been opened up and the coolness you feel is the coolness of the snowy sacred mountain. What is worked out by meditating in Sahasrara is worked out everywhere else below, so touch this place even once and see the result when you get back.

2.Canojoharie  in upstate New York is part of the right vishuddhi chakra, that represents communications and broadcast - America has the worlds highest number of lawyers  per head of population( 1 lawyer for every 300 people; compare France which is 1 for every 1,403 people) and Netflix (binge watching & box-sets) is rapidly colonising the TV viewing habits of millions around the world. Canojoharie is a mohawk word for ' the pot that cleans itself' which is reminiscent of the 'khumba', the water jar of Aquarius containing the 'water of life', which is the kundalini. We slept in a large tent all of us, in a field at night at a sahaja yoga seminar and we sensed the presence of the spirit of ancient owners of the land - native warriors on horseback - who had come to see who the intruders were and recognising Shri Mataji as the prophesied White Buffalo Calf Woman, let us be.

3. Delphi - Flight from London lands in Athens in the early hours and journey to Delphi is by Taxi. Remember waking up from exhausted slumber in backseat as if prompted by the vibes as taxi winds its way up a cypress tree lined mountain road and time has disappeared and we are again back in ancient Greece of  distant memory. Is that Zeus we see or is it Apollo? Go to the Delphic ruins and meditate on Nabhi chakra. From Greece has sprung politics and economics that holds the world in thrall and it could be here that it gets fixed.

4. Saptashrungi - 'She who rests on the seven peaks' - is the Kundalini whose home is in India (Maharastra State). Travelling from Nasik in a hired Jeep, the mountain is seen in the distance. After a further one hour journey time, mountain is still seen at a distance, as if it moves away from us as we move towards it. The legend goes that Immortal Sage Markandeya meditated here to conquer death and  in the process called forth the first incarnation of the Mother of the Universe in the form of  Surabhi, the sacred cow (see White Buffalo Calf Woman above).

5. Great Rift Valley, Africa - a genetic trace shows that every human being on the planet is descended from just one female who lived in the area of the great rift valley 200,000 years ago. She has been called Eve. The first sound a baby hears in the womb is the mother's heartbeat which gives an instinct for percussive rhythm and so the drum was invented. With a distant tribal drum as backdrop sit in the fading light and cooling air and meditate on left swadisthana and Eve, the source of creation.

6. Ayers Rock( Uluru ) - due to continental drift - the land mass of Australia got separated from the Indian sub-continent but the sense of the sacred found in India was retained by the Aborigines as the Dreamtime . The red rock of Uluru is Mother Earth pushing out from  her womb the embodiment of a child's innocence, which is the elephant-headed deity of the Indian pantheon, Shri Ganesha. Although treks up the mountain are no longer permitted, merely sitting with a view of the mountain and meditating on mooladhara chakra can reconnect you to the source of innocence.

Why The Future Looks Bright.

Dear All,

Below are 3 books recommended for your summer reading list. They shine a positive light into 3 challenges society is currently facing, which are 1. increasing incidence of anxiety and depression  2.healthcare provision for an ageing demographic  3. economic displacement caused by technology.

The books lends support to a 2000 year old prediction about en masse kundalini-awakening(sahaja yoga), which is that through this human beings will no longer get sick or old ; will exist in a state of 'bliss-consciousness'('nirvikalpa samadhi') and society will be in harmony and at peace with itself with everybody spending time doing what fulfils them.

Utopia? Yep. And another book on the bestsellar list is entitled Utopia for Realists(Rutger Bregman) which is about Universal Basic Income(UBI) or Free Money For All!

Check out the recommended 3 below:

Meditate: Just doing It - Some 'Shaktis' Sharing Experiences

Dear All,
Nothing succeeds like success and the gap between aspiring to do something and just doing it is a mile wide and can be very difficult to cross.

There's a phrase used in the entrepreneurial, start-up community in Silicon Valley, California and it is : "Fail Fast" . Which, to translate , means : If you have aspirations to achieve something you consider important, then don't wait for all your ducks to be lined up, start now - you can learn from your mistakes and improve along the way.

The same applies to your meditation practice : 'Just do it '. It really can transform things for you. Here's Shia LaBeouf, the Hollywood 'bad boy'  (over) emphasising the point... or better still, take your inspiration from the short interviews below with 4 'Shaktis' ( Kundalini as feminine energy/power in both men and women, but stronger in women).
