The Gift of Hands. 3 Things You Can Do They Can’t Teach Robots.
Dear Friend,
Your hands are unique and, being linked to your Vishuddhi chakra, are also a visible expression of your personality - ask the Italians.
You use your hands, for example, to pull someone into a warm embrace; to tie the laces on your trainers or to make an omelette.
If you hold your hands up and take a good look at them; what you’re looking at is 2 million years of evolution. This is because it’s taken that long for Nature to give you the hand dexterity that has allowed you to get to grips with the modern world.
Your thumbs are largely responsible for that, due to being ‘opposable’. What that briefly means, is that if Nature had given you two right hands or two left hands, you wouldn’t be rejoicing like you are now.
It’s because of human hand dexterity that we may have a little breathing room from the onslaught of AI as it begins to hoover up jobs involving knowledge work.
Any list of AI-resistant careers not only ranks jobs in Healthcare and Social Care highly, but also jobs like electricians, carpenters and plumbers all of which involve hand skills that robots can’t yet match.
Two recent developments in the AI saga means that even that human advantage will be lost at some point.
The first development is from India, where housewives are being paid £2/ hr to wear a head-mounted camera to film themselves doing manual household work. The thousands of hours of video footage collected will be used to train robots. (see: The Indian workers training AI robots to take their jobs )
The second development is from an interview with Elon Musk in which he suggests that the difficult engineering problem presented by robot hands may have been cracked with their latest Optimus humanoid robot.
Does this mean we’ll all end up on a human scrapheap with nothing to do but twiddle our ‘opposable’ thumbs?
Not if Mother Nature has anything to do with it. She gave us the thumbs and she has also given us the two ‘master’ chakras located at the join between each shoulder and the arms, called Lalita chakra (left) and Shri chakra (right).
These two chakras, when primed with kundalini awakening, allow you to channelise vibes through your hands and so work with the ‘paramachaitanya’ (all-pervading energy).
You can then use the power of your hands to heal, help and nourish. Tin cans will never be able to do that. More below.
Also below: the secret of the humble lemon; and, an antidote to overthinking and a busy mind.
Best wishes
