Dear Friend, The next time you’re sitting in front of a Rembrandt at the National Gallery in London or the Victoria & Albert museum, hold your hands open towards the painting and see what you feel. Rembrandt was a ‘realised soul’, as were many other artists whose works are housed in galleries and museums around the world, and which people flock to see. The artistic output of a ‘realised soul’, whether it’s painting, sculpture, music or architecture, has vibes. The artist channelises the elan vital (‘paramachaitanya’) via creative inspiration, whose force can be felt as the vibes the work emits. This can open the lotus of your heart, which in turn by-passes rationality and mentality at the Agnya chakra to open up Sahasrara chakra allowing for more threads of energy of your kundalini to flow. And this, according to Indian aesthetic theory, is the function and purpose of all true Art: to provide a spiritual experience (‘rasanubhava’). By this en masse self-realisation is possible by the medium of the Arts. As the use of AI expands into every domain, the Arts, both the production and consumption, may become increasingly important for human meaning in general. This at a time when museums and galleries are facing a collective funding shortfall that could impact their ability to provide this hidden benefit to society. As a result, at least one gallery, the Whitechapel Gallery, has taken the unusual step of hiring Mariana Mazzacuto as an economist-in-residence to make the case to government about the value the arts contribute. You can indirectly support this by visiting a gallery. By definition, you’re a real connoisseur, because the word connoisseur comes from the French word ‘connaître’  which means ‘to know’. This is similar to the the Sanskrit root ‘gna’, from which ‘gnosis’ has come, which is the ‘knowing’ you experience directly on the central nervous system as vibes. More below.
