Feeling Boxed In? How to Get Out of Mental Traps (Shabda Jalam).
Dear Friend,
If you can’t see a path that gets you from where you are at the moment, to where you want to be, then stop thinking about it in words.
Words, in the form of mental self-talk, can leave you feeling boxed in by limiting your capacity for creative solutions.
Visual thinking may be one step better than verbal thinking as far as creative solutions are concerned. There are people who have done well for themselves using the techniques of Creative visualisation .
With creative visualisation it’s been said that if you can visualise an outcome that you want to achieve in as much detail as possible by involving as many of your senses as possible, then, somehow, that outcome manifests itself.
If you’ve heard someone saying they’re using a Vision Board to achieve their career or life goals, then this is at least partly based on creative visualisation.
To learn about vision boards, you can check out Dr Izzy Sealey’s video: How to Make a Vision Board that ACTUALLY Works in 2026.
Whether you project visually or in words, there is still an inbuilt limitation.
Verbal thinking is done in your left brain hemisphere and visual, creative thinking is done in your right brain hemisphere, as shown on this psychology chart.
But, in yoga, the left brain and the right brain are the twin traps of the ego and the super-ego. ‘Success’ may provide only temporary satisfaction.
With your daily kundalini meditation, you’re freeing yourself from these twin traps in order to achieve Reality and a more sustained kind of success.
You get to where you want to be with minimal effort. Things fall into place as a result of ‘paramachaitanya’, the self-organising principle of Mother Nature guiding your goals. More below.

Best wishes
