Body Tuning. How to Heal Yourself with Music.

Dear Friend,

Your body is like a musical instrument. When you're in tune you feel great. When you're not in tune, you don't.

Not being in tune is the basis of every ailment and to cure it you need the resonating power of sounds, of musical notes.

Unfortunately, as much as you may enjoy your Spotify playlist, it's unlikely to be doing much for you at a deeper, therapeutic level.

Indian classical music, on the other hand, is tailor-made to sort you out if you need it.

The reason Indian classical music can have a powerful therapeutic effect is because, according to the ancient Indian seers, it originates from the primordial sound of the universe.

That sound is AUM.

AUM is also the subtle sound made by your kundalini in her spiral movement from the base of your spine to the crown of your head.

The seven chakras of your body correspond to the seven notes of the musical scale. And it is your kundalini that knows how to play them.

When you listen to Indian classical music it resonates harmoniously with your subtle body.

Through this it's possible to get relief from anxiety and depression, throat problems, stomach problems and a host of other problem. More below.

Also below: feeling good from oil massaging your hair; and, building up your resilience by focusing on your 'root support' (Mooladhara).

Best wishes

P.

Shiro Abhayangam - Ayurvedic Head Massage for Total Relaxation.
In yoga, your 'sukshma sharira' or subtle body is like an upside-down tree. The branches stretch downwards into the body and the roots are in the brain. This means that all your chakras have their roots in your Sahasrara (crown of head). This is why an oil massage of your head can be very therapeutic. This is very well understood in Ayurvedic medicine and is called 'Shiro Abhayangam', which looks and feels like this...
Building Your Resilience - A Mantra Meditation on Mooladhara Chakra .
Life ain't a sprint; it's a marathon. Your resilience is expressed through the mooladhara chakra from where your strength and stability also come from. Build yourself up with regular use of this mantra meditation on your mooladhara chakra...
Raga - How What You Listen To Affects You.
The therapeutic power of Indian classical music lies in the Ragas, which are precise melodic structures which carry a 'mood' and are tied to the time of day, referred to as a 'samay'. The charts here show you what ragas correspond to which chakras  and also the musical instrument  that a chakra is most affected by. With the benefit of this knowledge you can now create a Spotify playlist that does wonders for you.

Quote of the Week

"Indian classical music was based on AUM (primordial sound). At different times, certain music (melody)/ 'raga') should be played which describes a mood. Your Kundalini moves with the 'sapta swaras' ( the 7 notes from which melody/ raga is created). These seven swaras are built in your seven chakras. There was knowledge of exact swaras which would really make you feel nice. "

What I want to know is why are there hurdles to anything I'm trying to do? Nothing ever seems to run smoothly.
In Reply:

There are two positive ways of looking at hurdles, which, by the way, everyone experiences.

The first is that hurdles are a form of resistance-training that makes you stronger in order for you to overcome them.

The second is that hurdles can act as a guide for changing course. Be like water, which follows the line of least resistance.

Nature is always effortless.

From a yoga perspective, it's a fact of life that there are hurdles and obstacles in everything we try to do. This is why Shri Ganesha, the deity of your first chakra (Mooladhara) is regarded as especially important.

Shri Ganesha is known as 'the remover of obstacles' and is represented by the OM placed in front of every mantra.

The mantra is like an arrow aimed at a target and the OM is so that it hits its target.

Regularly listen to the powerful Shri Ganesha Artharvarsheersha Mantra in your morning meditation to make your day rum smoother.
