Dear Friend,

You've probably never heard of Peres Jepchirchir. She is the dynamo Kenyan athlete who won and broke the women's record at the London 2024 marathon last Sunday.

Being able to run 42 km (26 miles) in 2 hours and 16 minutes in not the best weather and with uphill stretches, must mean that she has certain qualities of endurance and stamina, that could teach all of us how to better cope with any kind of difficulty.

Here's what she said when interviewed after the race:

Consistency, discipline, and relentless determination are the cornerstones of my success. Every race I push myself beyond my limits, leaving nothing on the course. I train with purpose, focusing on both physical and mental strength. Whether it's mile one or mile 26, I stay focused, stay hungry, stay relentless until I cross that finish line."

This approach to a challenge is what psychologists call a problem-solving coping mechanism. It's the the head-on, deal-with-it approach which is usually regarded as the best.

Other coping mechanisms that psychologists say we use, include:
  • Procrastination ('I don't want to think about it now')
  • Social Support ('A problem shared...')
  • Drugs & Booze (' I'd rather be in another world')
  • Self Care (' I can make myself strong and get over this')

Examples of Self Care that are cited include : Journaling, Yoga and Meditation.

In Reply:

If they are happy for you to raise their kundalini, first mentally raise your own kundalini and bandhan yourself.

Then while keeping your attention on your Sahasrara (crown of head), ask them to watch you as you give a bandhan to them on your hand.

Their kundalini should respond to your raised kundalini by also rising.

You can get them to check whether their kundalini has come up by asking them to hold their right hand a few inches above their head to see if they can feel a sensation of coolness.

Also ask them to hold both palms towards you to see if they can feel vibes on their hands.

If they can sit for a few minutes with their eyes closed they should be able to get that feeling of deep peace that comes with kundalini awakening.

Dear Friend,

If you're a Londoner, the London Mayoral elections are being held on 2nd May and if you're intending to vote you may be comparing the candidates on the different issues that you care about .

These could include the social issues relating to crime, homelessness and poverty or something else touched on in this Mayoral Manifesto. 

But there are other ways to bring about change in the things that concern you and that is by meditating on them. 

This may sound useless in practice but in theory it isn't. And the theory goes like this:

Everything that is going on everywhere - social problems, global problems - are movements of the all-pervading energy of existence ('paramachaitanya'). In a state of 'yoga', your Kundalini merges your awareness into this so that when you meditate on an issue it can have an effect.

And, as you can verify on yourself, this also works for more personal problems. The deeper you are in your 'yoga' the more effective it all is. More below.

The next time you're worried for a friend or family member, throw some vibes their way by giving them a bandhan. You do this by symbolically writing their name in your left palm (hand of wish/intention) and slowly rotating your right hand (hand of action) over it until you feel the left hand go cool. In Reply:

The obvious possibility is that you're not getting enough sleep. If you have any difficulty sleeping then a cool footsoak before bed-time can help.

If your sleeping is fine then it could be an iron deficiency in your diet . Best consult your GP or pharmacist who can better advise you.

From a Sahaj perspective, tiredness and sleepiness is a symptom of being over-balanced on the left channel. To correct this, move the vibes from your right side to your left side in an arc over your head repeatedly until you feel the difference.

Also increase the protein in your diet and reduce the carbs.
