3 Things Your Hands Say About You.

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By Daily Sitting In Thoughtless Awareness.

Three Things Your Hands Say About You.

Dear Friend,

Your hands are your personality in miniature. And your little helpers. They scratch you when you itch; feed you when you want to eat, and join you in conversation when you want your listener to not only hear, but also see what you mean. They communicate.

Not only do they communicate with others, but they also communicate with you  - about  you, but you may not be aware. With the awakening of your kundalini, you're able to better pay attention to what they're saying.

The word used in science to describe this is 'interoception', which is defined as 'having a sense of the internal state of the body' and this is what your hands tell you.

With regular sahaja yoga meditation, you learn to understand and interpret what you feel on your hands, and use it to help yourself in ways you could never have done before.

Below are three of the ways.

This Is Cool - Take A Virtual Tour Of The National Gallery.
How do you know a Renaissance Master was a realised soul (kundalini already awakened at birth)? Answer: when you're standing in front of one of their works, you feel a cool breeze flowing off their painting. Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were both realised . Take a walk through the gallery and see if you can find others
Heal Yourself By 'Healing' Your Parents - A Guided Meditation.
In an ideal world, we'd all come from a stable, nurturing and supportive family background, but this is not always the case. Nobody is perfect and some parental imperfections can seep into our upbringing. So our emotions, outlook on  life and reaction to difficulties are partly inherited. To nurture, heal and repair your past do this...
Three Things Your Hands Say About You.
Your hands don't lie. Making  a wrong choice about something? Your hands could warn you. Feelings of insecurity? Your hands could indicate where this is coming from and help resolve. Undiagnosed health issue? Your hands could point this out. Learn to 'listen' to your hands. Here's how this ability is part of an evolutionary adaptation in human beings...

Quote of the Week

" We have to have that faith within us, that, no, there must be some reason why Nature, if you don’t like to call it God, has created us, why we are here. And that is only possible when you really respect yourself and love yourself, in the real sense. When you love yourself immediately you will love everybody else. Immediately. If you really love yourself. I’m saying really. Because you’ll find, everybody is connected. It is such a joyous thing to enjoy: being with others, feeling yourself in others, is the most joyous thing. See them laugh and you laugh. See them enjoy, you enjoy. It’s such a beautiful thing to see, that others are shining through you."

" I've had some negative physical and emotional experiences in my past that I've blocked out , but I know it continues to affect me in ways that I'm not always aware. Can the meditation help with this? "
In Reply:

Yes, meditation can help with this, but probably best as a complement to recognised professional support  such as counselling, depending on how badly you feel you've been affected.

Do take a look at this Talking Therapies & Counselling page on the NHS website.

Writing experiences down in a journal in order to better be able to process, them could also help you if you don't want to go the counselling route. Take a look at this webpage: How to Use Journaling to Cope With PTSD.

Regular Sahaja Yoga Meditation over the medium to long term has been demonstrated to help with a range of personality -related conditions including anxiety and depression. This study was published in the International Journal of Neuroscience.

Finding What Makes You Happy.

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By Daily Sitting In Thoughtless Awareness.

Finding What Makes You Happy.

Dear Friend,

According to Positive Psychology, the following 3 things are true about your ability for happiness:
  • Being born happy ie your genetic inheritance makes up about 40% of your capacity for happiness; a bigger part is played by your lifestyle and environmental factors that you do have control over.
  • The three main things that determine happiness are : " life satisfaction, feeling engaged in everyday activities, and feeling you have a purpose in life"
  • The proven ways of increasing your happiness include, "Volunteering, exercise, getting out in nature, and having a spiritual practice"
Source: insider.com/is-happiness-genetic

Volunteering, exercise and getting out in nature are all well and good, but they require you to do, and you may not always feel like do-ing. Having the right spiritual practice, on the other hand , just involves be-ing and because this is pervasive, it can become the canvas on which you paint the other areas of your life, and so gives the greatest potential for happiness as touched on below.

Treating Yourself To (With) Chocolate.
Now who wouldn't want to self-medicate with something that's just  begging to be eaten. Within reason, of course, nibbling on some dark chocolate has a range of different health benefits. This includes boosting your body's 'happy hormones' (endorphins, serotonin) that's responsible for lifting your  mood and increasing the feeling of pleasure, plus...
Crowning Joy - Opening The Top Of Your Head With Music.
There's a branch of knowledge in Indian classical music that relates certain musical compositions ('Ragas') to certain beneficial effects on the mind and body. Raga 'Darbari', for example, is relaxing and uplifting at the same time, and is associated with crown chakra at top of your head. Listen here (headphones recommended ).
Finding What Makes You Happy.
Life is meant for Joy & Happiness ( see quote of the week below) through simply be-ing. But as our collective attention has been dominated by matter, materialism and do-ing, the connection to an innate happiness has been lost. And this is why, according to Positive Psychology , having a spiritual practice helps - it turns your gaze inwards. The effect is like this ...

Quote of the Week

" The flowers come out for a short time and fade out, but as long as they live they are very happy. They don’t think of their past or of their future, but they enjoy the present. And in the present they enjoy what? Is that they are fragrant and giving fragrance to others; they are beautiful and they are soothing others. The whole nature is like that. If you look at the birds, or anything that we call as natural, is all sort of in a meditative mood. All these hills and big, big mountains, they look as if they are a witness to whatever has been happening."

" When I'm meditating, the palms of my hands usually feel cool, but in the past few days, I've been feeling a tingling on my left little finger. What does that mean? "
In Reply:

The sensations you feel on your hand/finger when you meditate give an indication of the state of the chakra that the finger corresponds to. The left little finger corresponds to your left heart chakra .

The tingling you're feeling comes from a 'catch' on the left heart that your kundalini is trying to clear, and so it may disappear after a few days by itself.

If it persists then it may be life-style related. The commonest cause of a catch of the left heart chakra is from an over-focus on physical exercise, even from the practice of hatha yoga. Just easing up a little on the physical side, should bring you back into healthy balance and clear the catch.

Feeling catches is also the early warning system for any underlying health issues, so it's useful to pay attention to any persistent ones and learn how to clear them yourself.  You can view a picture of what different catches on different fingers mean, and how to clear them, here : 'My Body , My Temple' .

7 Reasons Why You Should Laugh More.

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By Daily Sitting In Thoughtless Awareness.

7 Reasons Why You Should Laugh More.

Dear Friend,

Happy forgetfulness. When you're laughing about something, it's impossible to be worried or stressed or angry or sad at that moment. Humour , especially belly-laugh humour , momentarily pushes all other concerns into the background of your awareness.

Laughter can be contagious and bond people together. But the immediate beneficial effect you get from laughing , is a physiological one as a result of the change to breathing pattern and muscle contractions  induced by letting the funny ripple through you.

Below are 7 things that happen to you when you laugh, that contribute to your health and wellbeing. Laughter really is the best medicine.

Also below, watch Sanjeev , who hosts the Zoom meditation session on Mondays 7:30pm, being interviewed about how he combines his meditation with a busy professional life. Also below, how a visual aid can make a difference to your meditation.

Visual Aid To Your Meditation : The Power Of The Photo.
If you're noticing how your creativity and focus improves with regular meditation, that's because meditation is recognised as a form of 'attention-training'. In the Tibetan / Indian spiritual traditions, a 'mandala' / 'yantra' is used to help with this. But the ritualised meditation involved in the use of mandalas and yantras can be too difficult. The 'living' photo achieves the same effect but without the effort, plus it emits vibes. Use like this...

Quote of the Week

" [Self-realisation] It’s an integration of a person, completely because these, all the centers [chakras] represent our different beings[different sides of the personality]. When the Kundalini passes through them, She pierces through them just like a thread through many pearls and integrates [them]. But when She enters through this path [central channel/ parasympathetic], then she enters into this awareness, this dynamic awareness [vibratory awareness] of which we become an instrument, which starts flowing, you can feel it [vibes/ cool breeze on top of head and on palms of hands]"

" How can I encourage my partner to try this meditation. They're getting stressed out and I know it would help them "
In Reply:

Good question. When you're living in the same space as another person, meditating together is a great way to enhance the experience for both of you and get faster results.

If you're meditating everyday and can feel the vibes on your hands, you could try gently raising your partners kundalini. You can do this by simply drawing your hand slowly  up their back from bottom of spine to top of head a few times and then holding your palm over the top of their head to feel for a coolness coming out .

Ask them to keep their eyes closed and remain sitting for a few minutes while paying attention to the top of their head. When the kundalini comes up the first feeling it produces is a feeling of peace.

Once the peace is experienced, this itself for most people, becomes the encouragement to regular sitting in meditation.

Ps. This suggestion may also be relevant to the person who asked : "Why is my son causing the family so much stress and anxiety?"

How To Empower Your Self.

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By Daily Sitting In Thoughtless Awareness.

How To Empower Your Self.

Dear Friend,

" To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom" said Socrates more than 2000 years ago. That advice is even more relevant today, in these challenging times, when many of us may be experiencing a mild form of identity crises, as a result of lockdown and everything that it has brought with it.

To know thyself is the first step to empowering yourself. Empowering yourself doesn't mean organising a march; it just means having better control of your mental health by investing in your 'still' and 'unchanging centre' when things around you are changing and uncontrollable.

Below is a meditation on self. Also below, a pressure point head massage to calm and balance you, plus, the superhumans who live next door to you  - possibly.

5 Points You Can Press On Your Head To Achieve Calm.
'Marma' points are like electrical junction boxes in the body that help regulate the flow of vital energy . They are similar to the acupuncture points of traditional chinese medicine, except that rather than needles, finger pressure is used to stimulate them. Here are 5 on your head that calm the mind, balance hormones and improve your sleep and it just takes a few minutes to experience the benefits...

The Age Of Aquarius  - Dawn Of 'Superhumans'.
Your next door neighbour could be a superhuman. With so many global forces of change acting around us, it may be leading to a change from within. Similar environmental pressures led earlier human species to disappear and be replaced by the human beings of today. Evolutionary history could be repeating itself. To quote the American auther William Gibson: " The future is already here - it's just not evenly distributed". Your neighbour can do this
How To Empower Your Self - Left Heart Chakra.
If your personal identity is bound up too closely with the job you do and/or the relationships you have with other people, then you may be surrendering a lot of your self-worth to forces outside yourself, which is the route to all sorts of insecurities. Whatever labels could be applied to you, you're none of those things . You're deeper, wider and subtler. Here's a guided meditation to help empower your true self...

Quote of the Week

"Now the Truth is that the Spirit is within you and you are the Spirit. You are the beauty, the bliss and the joy of that Spirit. That’s what you are. Because your attention is not there that’s why you cannot feel your Spirit. But your Spirit exists, it is within you, in your heart, waiting for a moment to come into your conscious mind, to be felt by you in your central nervous system. It’s all there, built within you. ."

10thg November 1980, Public Program, Caxton Hall, London(UK).
" Is it better to meditate in the morning or the evening? I've noticed my head is clearer in the morning but  in the evening I have more time "
In Reply:

Meditating in the morning is energising and helps you start the day feeling positive; meditating in the evening, especially after a footsoak , is a good way to rid yourself of the tensions of the day, so you can get a good nights sleep, which is important for mental and physical health.

So both a morning and evening meditation are useful in different ways and both contribute to your overall wellbeing.
