Fierce Love. How Your Sleep Helps.

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By 10-Minutes Daily Thoughtless Awareness.

Fierce Love. How Your Sleep Helps.

Dear Friend,

How much sleep are you getting every night?  The recommended daily amount say doctors is between 7 - 9 hours a night.

But the research shows that the quality of your sleep matters more than how long you're in bed for.

Which is not surprising since, ideally, sleep helps you in the following ways:
  • mental stress relief
  • problem-solving
  • healing
  • immunity
  • emotional regulation
  • better decision-making
(source: Sleep Foundation)

In kundalini yoga, sleep is personified as the mother goddess Mahakali. The beneficial functions of sleep are an expression of her motherly love.

She is sometimes portrayed in Indian iconography with a fierce warrior form, defeating the forces of negativity in order to to protect her children (ie. you).

So her's is a fierce love. She is the fever when you're sick, by which you get better; the comforter when you're troubled.

Mahakali is represented on your left subtle channel ('ida nadi') and with kundalini awakening the benefits of sleep seem especially noticeable.

To achieve a feeling of rapport with your inner Mahakali, here's an Indian classical music composition evoking her, by the late, great Pandit Jasraj. More below.

Also below: listening to a 7 minute chant for success; and, a wealth you can increase by spending it.

Best wishes

How can I deal with bouts of anxiety? All I have to do is start thinking about some matter and then my whole mood can go down with the worry.
In Reply:

In Sahaja yoga, the 2 tools you have for handling anything causing you anxiety and worry, are the bandhan and 'laya' meditation technique.

They both rely on your kundalini's connection to the Parama-chaitanya (self-organising principle of Nature).

The bandhan is a 'telephone call' to the Parama-chaitanya.

The laya meditation is a 'dissolving' of the issue in the Parama-chaitanya.

You can use the laya meditation technique as a form of walking meditation. Any time a thought comes that creates anxiety in you, just 'dissolve' it at Sahasrara by saying :"not this; not this!".

With daily meditation using your meditation photo, your Sahasrara merges more and more with the Parama-chaitanya.

Getting Rude Health. Importance of Your 5 Bodies (Koshas).

Achieving Your Health, Wealth & Happiness By 10-Minutes Daily Thoughtless Awareness.

Getting Rude Health. Importance of Your 5 Bodies (Koshas).

Dear Friend,

If you're trying to look after your physical and mental health by eating properly, getting enough sleep and exercise, but still manage to feel miserable sometimes, you could be overlooking something important.

According to yoga, the physical body that we pay so much attention to is just the outer 'kosha' (sheath) of the 5 koshas we're made up of.

These koshas are :
  1. Annamaya Kosha - 'food' sheath (you are what you eat)
  2. Pranamaya Kosha - 'energy' sheath (you are what you do)
  3. Manomaya Kosha - 'mind' sheath (you are what you think)
  4. Vijnanamaya Kosha - 'discernment' (you are what you pay attention to)
  5. Anandamaya Kosha - 'bliss' ( your essential self)
To be in rude health rather than at most a partial health, you need to be looking after all your 5 koshas.

The 5 koshas correspond to the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air, light).

When your kundalini rises in meditation and pierces your sahasrara, the vibes flow in and get sucked down into your Nabhi chakra. At your Nabhi chakra a subtle 'digestive' process takes place.

The vibes are broken down into the 'tanmatras' ( 5 subtle elements) which then begin to nourish their respective koshas ('Thou shalt not live by bread alone').

When the flow of vibes from sahasrara becomes a reflex that is continuous and uninterrupted (Nirvikalpa), then it arrests the natural 'decay' of the 5 elements.

This is how it's been predicted that in future, human beings will no longer get sick or grow old. More below.

Also below: Anti-inflammatory benefits of frankincense; and, the power that being present gives you.

Best wishes

Quote of the Week

"All the 5 Koshas, the 5 auras, Koshas, are there. So these 5 Koshas are managed by the 5 elements, the essence of which can be called the causal elements
And these five elements give you  your own identity, your own character, your own particularities etc. These five elements; the way they are placed in you. That’s the causal element, the causal of the elements that are within you. Then these causals act on the chakras and through the chakras these causals act on the grosser side [ie your body/brain]."

How does Sahaja yoga meditation help with drugs and alcohol addiction?
In Reply:

I'm unable to explain the exact medical pathway by which regular Sahaja yoga meditation helps with addictions.

However, a retrospective study done in 1995 at the University of Vienna by Dr. W. Hackl, specifically relating to drug abuse, showed a reduction in drug consumption among both light and heavy users.

Regarding, excessive alcohol consumption, what someone told me was that they developed a mild aversion to alcohol, in that they no longer enjoyed the taste.

The stomach, it seems, becomes religious.
