Do Ghosts Exist? Why You Need to Know.
Dear Friend,
One evening when I was 7 or 8 years old, I was rinsing tea leaves out of the teapot under an outdoor tap outside Mrs Simpson’s house when I suddenly felt that I was being watched.
I was living in an English village while attending the local primary school and stayed with Mrs Simpson. Her house was close to the river and the neighbouring house, which the river ran by, had stood empty and seemingly abandoned for a long time. Nobody knew who the owner was.
The windows to the front-room of the house had no curtains and if you looked all you could see was the dim gloom of the dark living room inside.
So there I was, at the tap, carrying out a chore that I had done many times before, when I suddenly had the urge to up. And, of course, there they were, silently looking back at me from the window.
Whether it was a girl or boy, man or woman, I couldn’t make out and I didn’t hang about to find out. Later, with a little courage, I went and got the teapot back.
The apparition at the window may have been real or it may have been a figment of my young fertile imagination.
Mrs Simpson had a morbid interest. I often found myself traipsing about the grounds of a haunted church in the haunted English countryside*, listening in wonder as a guide shared with Mrs Simpson the stories of what terrible acts had taken place there and when, exactly.
We did on occasion go to the sea-side and get some ice-cream. May she rest in peace.
Do ghosts exist? There’s official recognition that they do, at least for Great Britain:
“Great Britain is reputedly the most haunted landmass in the world, with England being the most haunted country, reporting the densest coverage of purported ghost sightings and paranormal experiences both per person and by geographical area.” - List of Haunted Places
An analogy is of school where some former pupils loiter outside the school gates and pester some of the current pupils as they go into and come out of school daily.
In certain cultures, ‘hearing voices’- type afflictions have been attributed to this and includes such things as extreme negative self-talk, psychosis, schizophrenia and suicidal ideation.
No worries though; most people are immune. But looking after your chakras and your vibes gives your aura a certain additional protection. More below.
Also below: protecting yourself with a sung mantra; and, finding inner joy through your meditation.
Best wishes
P.
*For a musical portrait of haunted landscape, Danse macabre, Op. 40 a symphonic poem by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns captures it.
