Connecting to World Community - Your Power of Collective Awareness.

Dear All,
The power that your kundalini gives you on the vishuddhi(throat) chakra as a result of daily meditation is collective awareness. This power expresses like this:

You are able to feel the state of another persons chakras on your fingers(see previous email about chakras & fingers) when you think about that person. The person could be sitting next to you on the tube. Or, you could be shopping on Oxford street and the person could be perched on a camel near the egyptian pyramids. Distance doesn't matter.
Because distance doesn't matter, it allows you to benefit from something else  that very much depends on collective awareness: and that is Global online meditation with other people in different countries who are also practicing sahaja yoga meditation.
A few days ago, I was talking to Wei, who is on a business trip from China and he told me that when the sahaja yogis in China have their online meditation sessions, there are as many as 200 meditators logged in. These are mostly people from across different cities in China but also includes people from other countries; timezone difference permitting.
What's the benefit of online meditation? Well, if you can't make it to a Tuesday group meditation then the next best way of getting the  lift that comes from meditating with other people, is by joining practicing sahaja yogis from across Scandinavia, Russia,Europe,Middle East and other places in a moment of silent stillness that can be quite powerful.

And...you may be helping to change the world*.
Click here to see when the next one is : Online Sahaj Meditation calendar
Also the next time you travel to any of these countries, take a note of the contact details and addresses provided and go and meditate with the locals: Worldwide contacts .
See you at group meditation on Tuesday.
Regards

Notes:

* Meditate to change the World .  According to the latest climate science, human environmental activity is bringing us rapidly to the point of no return as far as our ability to reverse the environmental damage is concerned. This could have potentially devastating effects on human populations. Some of these effects are already visible in the form of widespread drought and flooding.

Along with this, is the acceleration of the  mass extinction of many species of plants and animals. Scientists call this the Holocene extinction. It may not just be restricted to plants and animals though if the evidence of human evolutionary biology (see: Neanderthal extinction) is taken into account. Mother Nature seems to have done an upgrade of human beings in the past and may be doing another upgrade now, hence the en-masse, spontaneous kundalini awakening.

Make your house a happy home.

Dear All,
Coincidentally, a few of you mentioned last week that you're moving house/flats. You may be interested to know that, according to vaastu shastra, the ancient knowledge of interior design, the building/apartment/house/flat that a person lives in can have a big influence on their health, wealth and happiness.
But be confident. You could be carrying with you to the new flat all the luck you'll ever need: it's the photo you use for meditation. And it's lucky whether you're moving or not .

Many of us have experienced over the course of our meditation practice that the photo not only supports the meditation, but also seems to increase the positive vibes in our homes, if you give it a bit of TLC (tender loving care). This means keeping the photo standing in a wood and glass frame and doing arti/bandhan* with a candle to preserve the vibrations of the photo, whenever you sit for meditation.
Among the many interesting things people have reported over the years, are how the photo has seemingly  healed (see: 'miracle photo heals'), protected and  brought good luck in financial matters. Generally, the photo seems to automatically correct any 'vaastu deficiency' in your living space(see notes).
So, make your house a happy home. Look after the photo and if you've misplaced yours or want more than one, let me know and I can post them to you. There are a few of these ones (as in living room above) which will be left out on the table on Tuesday,so feel free to take one if you want.

See you at group meditation on Tuesday

Regards

Notes:
* Arti is done by moving the lit candle used for meditation over the standing photo, from left to right/ right to left in a horse-shoe shape 3x.
Vaastu deficiencies are layouts, arrangements or contents of your living space that may block the flow of beneficial energy in the home and can create seemingly unrelated problems of one kind or another for the people living there. The concepts are similar to Chinese Feng Shui, for which there are accredited consultants such as this one : Feng Shui Living - Sylvia Bennett.

The Extraordinary power of your attention.

Dear All,
At last Tuesdays group meditation session  the theme was the 'Attention' . The key to sahaja yoga meditation is the attention. Why might this be useful to you beyond the actual practice of  meditation? Because it's generally agreed that the basis of success, satisfaction and achievement with most things in life, is the ability to focus. Your attention is that ability to focus.

Here then is a refresher towards improving your attention.
We live in a world which, because of the many distractions, is having a negative effect on the human attention (attention span). A study has found that the average human attention span has dropped from 12 seconds to 8 seconds since 2000. Your goldfish (if you have one) has an attention span of 9 seconds! (see: Humans have shorter attention span than goldfish ).

When you meditate daily, it's a form of attention training and you may begin to notice the positive effects of this in your work, creative or otherwise.

Here's Ken demonstrating how by use of the attention you can meditate anywhere, not just at home: How to Meditate anywhere.

Also, one of the abilities that you've gained as a result of your kundalini awakening is that your attention is 'enlightened' . This means that your attention has the power to change something when it is directed towards some matter. It could be to do with some problem that you may be  having in your personal life or something to do with work, or even a much larger social problem.

Of course, this ability can be weak or strong depending on how far you have progressed in daily meditation and in achieving thoughtless awareness.
To measure your progress in your meditation practice then, you could test and see how effective your attention becomes and what successes you are able to achieve with your increased ability to focus.

See you at group meditation on Tuesday.

Getting to the next level.

Dear All,
To add to the enjoyment you get from meditation, you could try lighting an incense stick and letting the fragrance waft around the space you're sitting in.
Fragrance being the essence of the Mother Earth*, it strengthens the earth element in you, which is represented by the mooladhara chakra - the chakra of innocence/the eternal child. When the mooladhara chakra is improved, you may find that inspite of all that's going on , you too can smile like the baby above.
Incense sticks (aka Joss sticks) come in such a variety that it can be difficult to make a choice (even available on Amazon.com).
I find that a very pleasant meditative atmosphere can be created with sandlewood incense. I'll bring some to group meditation and you can grab a few sticks and try them at home. If you like them then I can get you a full pack the next time I go to Southall. They only cost £1 .
The great thing about babyhood, apart from the smiling, is that the state of thoughtless awareness is in-built. In sanskrit this state is called 'pratyaksha' . It's a state of just seeing or witnessing without any accompanying mental ideas/thoughts** . With the mind in this state, it more closely mirrors the nature of reality.
In Sanskrit, the word for the absolute reality is : 'Satchitananda'. This word can be broken down into : 'Sat' - truth ; 'Chit' - attention/awareness ; 'Ananda' - bliss/joy. So when the awareness approaches reality, it becomes a blissful awareness free from all false concepts.
in last weeks email, reference was made to predictions from the 'Nadi Granthas' about human beings enjoying an illness-free state of permanent youth. Similar predictions from the 'Vishnu puranas' talks about human beings at that time having 'crystal-purity of mind' - the bliss consciousness.
So now you know. Any amount of time you can spend in sahaja yoga meditation is like putting money into your bank account  and investing in the human race at the same time. And maybe all that's required to get you to the next level is lighting a sandlewood incense stick....
See you at group meditation on Tuesday.
Regards
