Your Body Keeps the Score. How to Use Your Power of Inner Sensing (Interoception) to Work Things Out.
Dear Friend,
You may try and bury past trauma, but your body remembers and can show this through physical symptoms.
That is the finding of the Dutch psychiatrist, Bessel van der Kolk MD., based on many years of clinical practice and written about in his bestselling book, The Body Keeps the Score.
It is partly as a result of the success of this book that Somatic Therapy has caught on so fast in New York and has spread elsewhere.
A key technique in somatic therapy is ‘interoception’, whereby you assist your healing by focusing on sensations in your body when recalling a traumatic experience.
This is such a powerful technique that TED speaker Carrie DeJong has described interoception as Our Real-Life Superpower.
In Sahaja Yoga, this ‘superpower’ is called ‘introspection’, which is a more familiar word than ‘interoception.
With your daily kundalini meditation, the ‘superpower’ of your introspection / interoception becomes second-nature to you.
When your kundalini is rising during your meditation, she will stop at a ‘catch’ or block. This could be coming from a past trauma or some other detrimental activity or experience, and may manifest as a health issue.
The great thing is that by paying attention to it in meditation and using your hands you can clear yourself of the ‘catch’ and heal yourself in the process. More below.

Best wishes
