How to Pass through the Eye of a Needle: The Ego & SuperEgo

Dear All,
Here's a quick tip about overcoming the mental barriers that may be holding you back from success in something.

One of the things that becomes apparent to you, sooner or later, when you're practicing sahaja yoga meditation is that you're not your mind.

Even if you're able to achieve 'thoughtless awareness' for a few seconds at a time  - when you're walking, commuting, at work, or sitting down to meditate at home, then for those few seconds you've managed to transcend your mind. You're free of any mental barriers.

Then in that state, the universe of wonderful possibilities which was artificially limited by the false cacoon of ego (thoughts about the future) and super-ego (thoughts about the past) opens up to you.

This is how it is that with a little meditation, things you may have been struggling with in personal life or at work just work out, sometimes in quite surprising ways.

It's as if you had been struggling to thread a needle because the eye of the needle was so small and then suddenly the eye of the needle becomes very big and the thread passes easily through it.

In the iconography of sahaja yoga, the ego is ruled by the archetype represented by the awakened Buddha. This 4 minute clip from the movie Little Buddha, shows the Buddha (Keanu Reeves) at the point of final emancipation.

In it he is overcoming the fears and insecurities (negative self-talk we sometimes have), personified as Mara ('evil twin'/ Ego). The part where the flaming arrows aimed at him turn into a shower of flower petals is a great analogy of what happens in sahaja yoga meditation when you experience your worries & problems turn into positive outcomes. How Affirmations Can Help You Achieve a Better Meditation.

Dear All,

Here's another way to benefit from your kundalini awakening: try affirmations and see whether you can develop a certain ability within yourself or make some positive change. The basic sahaja yoga meditation affirmations are given below.

If you haven't  quite got into the use of mantras to clear the chakras then affirmations in english are the next best thing. The affirmations are addressed to your own kundalini, which is referred to as 'mother'.

When you've been using these affirmations for a while and notice the postive effect it's having on you, both during your meditation and afterwards, then you should try and make up some of your own affirmations.

Two examples might be 1. placing your right hand on the centre of your chest and repeating to yourself 'Mother, I am fearless!' - particularly effective if you're experiencing any anxiety or lacking in confidence.
2. Placing your right hand over your stomach and repeating 'Mother, I am satisfied!' - this can help with material insecurity as it opens the nabhi chakra.

You have within yourself a huge untapped potential of kundalini energy and an inwardly expressed desire in the form of the affirmations is the simplest way to begin to access it. You can use this to motivate your daily practice of sahaja yoga meditation  and achieve the results you want.

House Clearing - Your Inner Makeover.

Dear All,

It probably takes about 15 days into the new year for the shape of the year ahead to start forming for most people. Patterns form fast and then are difficult to break out of. Especially if there's some carry-over from the previous year. Here are 2 easy suggestions for creating a fantastic year ahead without the need for new years resolutions.

1.  Tidy Up & Throw Stuff Out.

The simple act of clearing out a corner of your living space where you've dumped stuff that's built up, can be very satisfying on several levels, including psychologically. Even more so if it's a whole room or a whole house that's un-trashed . Japanese author, Marie Kondo wrote a book about it in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which was on the New York Times best-seller list for 86 weeks and has sold millions of copies world wide.

The idea of throwing away in order to clean or clear something is a powerful symbol of your 'inner-work' in your practice of sahaja yoga meditation. The state of the chakras can be the road-blocks to becoming our best selves and achieving all we want out of life. With every 5-10 minute sitting in meditation, the kundalini does this deep work of clearing the chakras of the 'emotional debris' gathered perhaps over several life-times.

2. Here's a Plan (which you don't have to follow; just use as guide whenever)

A small note about the 'Geography of the Virata': The Earth is a 'living' entity with 'chakras' located at certain points on her surface which coincide with various countries and cities - Mother Earth - spiritual geography
