Getting Rude Health. Importance of Your 5 Bodies (Koshas).
Dear Friend,
If you're trying to look after your physical and mental health by eating properly, getting enough sleep and exercise, but still manage to feel miserable sometimes, you could be overlooking something important.
According to yoga, the physical body that we pay so much attention to is just the outer 'kosha' (sheath) of the 5 koshas we're made up of.
These koshas are :- Annamaya Kosha - 'food' sheath (you are what you eat)
- Pranamaya Kosha - 'energy' sheath (you are what you do)
- Manomaya Kosha - 'mind' sheath (you are what you think)
- Vijnanamaya Kosha - 'discernment' (you are what you pay attention to)
- Anandamaya Kosha - 'bliss' ( your essential self)
To be in rude health rather than at most a partial health, you need to be looking after all your 5 koshas.
The 5 koshas correspond to the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air, light).
When your kundalini rises in meditation and pierces your sahasrara, the vibes flow in and get sucked down into your Nabhi chakra. At your Nabhi chakra a subtle 'digestive' process takes place.
The vibes are broken down into the 'tanmatras' ( 5 subtle elements) which then begin to nourish their respective koshas ('Thou shalt not live by bread alone').
When the flow of vibes from sahasrara becomes a reflex that is continuous and uninterrupted (Nirvikalpa), then it arrests the natural 'decay' of the 5 elements.
This is how it's been predicted that in future, human beings will no longer get sick or grow old. More below.
